Replacement of the Flare Pipeline at the Hellenic Petroleum refinery
Flare pipeline replacement in the refinery of Hellenic Petroleum in Thessaloniki, Greece
The pipeline has a total length of 700 m, standing on 7 m  height above the ground. Initially its diameter was 20''.
The pipe has been replaced by a new one of 36'' diameter.  The pipe contains combined liquid and gas burning products of the refinery unit
in high pressure and temperature up to 400 degrees Celcius.
The project involves the analysis of the pipe itself, and the strengthening of its supports as well.

For the analysis and design of the system, an analytical Finite element model has been developed using
Strand7. The analysis has been performed concerning material and geometric non-linearities.
